The Premier League is back with a full slate of exciting midweek fixtures for fans to sink their teeth into over the course of the next few days. As we enter the month of April, it’s clear to see that we’re getting into the nitty-gritty of the campaign with teams at both ends of the table still having a lot left to fight for. Today, we’ll take a look at the upcoming clash between Chelsea and Manchester United.
Chelsea Form GuideThis season hasn’t been particularly fruitful for Mauricio Pochettino and while it may not seem like it, a lot rests on how they bounce back between now and May. They need to make a real fight of it in their pursuit of European football because if they don’t, they could find themselves going through yet another major change by the time the summer window rolls around.
Since losing to Liverpool in the League Cup final, Chelsea haven’t lost a game. They’ve been able to pick up wins over Leeds, Newcastle and Leicester with draws against Burnley and Brentford, although it must be said that they’ve conceded 10 goals across those five matches.
Manchester United Form GuideManchester United supporters have spent the last decade experiencing brief moments of joy, but for the most part, their inconsistency has really hurt them on the pitch. Erik ten Hag is the latest manager to try and make a difference at Old Trafford, but there are still far more questions than answers for the Red Devils as we approach a critical few months for them.
Inconsistency, as we’ve already noted, is the real problem area for United. They lost to Fulham, then beat Nottingham Forest. They lost to Manchester City, then defeated Everton and Liverpool, only to fall short in a 1-1 draw with Brentford that could’ve easily been worse.
Match PredictionChelsea and Manchester United will both feel as if they’ve somewhat let themselves down this season - and yet, ironically, both are still in with a shot of winning silverware. In a game like this, we think it’s going to be quite tentative throughout, with the end result being a draw.
